Welcome to my little corner of the internet, affectionately dubbed Ms. Russet! By day, I navigate the challenges of legal work and parenting. By night (and weekends), I transform into a master party planner, amateur chef, and an all-around domestic goddess.
Welcome to Ms Russet, your go-to haven for all things cooking, entertaining, and lifestyle!
I believe that making memories over delicious meals and well-thought-out gatherings should be joyous and stress-free. Here, I bring you a blend of simplicity and ingenuity, offering you easy-to-follow recipes, clever hosting tips, and vibrant lifestyle ideas that are sure to elevate your everyday living.
I’m Courtney, a lawyer, wife, and mom of two who has a passion for cooking, entertaining, travel, and more. Whenever I’m not on Teams meetings, traveling for work, or in the middle of parenting, I’m plotting my next elaborate theme party for 75 people (you think I’m joking, but I’m not). My sister encouraged me to start this blog after seeing the level of extracurricular crazy that I like to take this hobby of mine. She thought others would get a kick out of seeing the adventures that I’m already doing—past examples include running my own at-home candy business during the holidays to send holiday candy to my list of 250+ people, dreaming up a myriad of treats and baked goods for my son’s luchador-themed second birthday party, figuring out the best large batch Halloween cocktail that involves my guests inserting a syringe of Chambord “blood” into their drink, you get the idea.
Wondering about the name Ms Russet? This is a wink and nod to my Idaho roots. Yes, yes, the hometown I came from has a russet potato as the mascot and holds a famous yearly beauty contest called the Miss Russet Pageant. Although I was never part of said pageant, my Russet roots run deep. I spent most of my formative years learning to cook, bake, and dream up creative projects—not to mention caring for goats, commuting through back fields, taking fiddle lessons from the real Miss Idaho, taking a week off school for spud harvest, etc. These experiences have given me a great foundation to cultivate creative escapes from my current city-desk-dwelling life. Sometimes, my childhood stories sound like Rose Nylund from the Golden Girls rattling on about St. Olaf, but I’m proud of my upbringing and all the practical skills it has brought to bear.
